A couple of labourers were trapped under the debris of a huge container carrying dust when it collapsed at the Cement plant
Inspector general of police told PT over telephone that he was informed that a huge container or a boiler, came down crashing after a rail supporting it broke down. "One person was rescued and referred to a hospital," he added.
Though the exact number of workers trapped under the debris is not known, some of the workers told the police that four workers were missing and they could be under the debris. The incident took place around noon. A large number of anxious relatives of workers of the cement plant gathered outside the factory premises but the factory officials and the police prevented them from entering the premises.
Three years ago, an under-construction chimney of power plant of Bharat Aluminium Company limited had collapsed at Balco Nagar in Korba district, killing 40 labourers in the accident in September 2009. Subsequently, the state government had ordered a judicial inquiry into the matter.
